About the Artist

Patrick Shannon’s creative life began when it became apparent that social work was not his calling. After returning to college to study ceramics, an internship followed which led to self-employment as a full-time potter. During a trip to California, a welder was purchased on a whim and roughly three years later a career in metals presented itself. It started with spun copper plates and moved into large sculpture, utilizing copper, steel, stainless steel, brass, and bronze. Shannon has always been interested in combining different materials which complement each other and form a cohesive whole. Rural Minnesota is a wonderful place to live and work, and his work is certainly influenced by its beauty and serenity.

In addition to representation in area galleries, Shannon’s work can be found in galleries in the West and Southwest and installed in public buildings, landscapes, and private collections in the United States and abroad.
